Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes how Konekte ("Konekte", "we", "us" or "our"), the operator of the Konekte mobile application and the website located at konekte.date (together, the "Services"), collects, uses, discloses, retains and safeguards personal information, and explains the rights and choices available to you under applicable data protection and privacy laws. For the purposes of the European Union and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulations and comparable laws, Konekte is the controller of the personal information described in this Policy. By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. Questions may be directed to support@konekte.date.
1. Scope and definitions
This Policy applies to personal information processed in connection with the Services. "Personal information" (also called "personal data") means any information that identifies, relates to, describes or is reasonably capable of being associated with an identified or identifiable natural person. "Processing" means any operation performed on personal information, including collection, recording, storage, use, disclosure and deletion. This Policy does not apply to third-party websites, services or applications that may be linked from the Services, which are governed by their own privacy notices.
2. Eligibility and minors
The Services are intended exclusively for individuals who are at least eighteen (18) years of age. We do not knowingly collect, solicit or process personal information from anyone under eighteen, and the Services are not directed to children within the meaning of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act or comparable laws. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under eighteen, we will promptly deactivate the account and delete the information. If you believe a minor is using the Services, please notify us at support@konekte.date.
3. Categories of personal information we collect
3.1 Information received from your Google account
The Services use Google Sign-In for authentication. When you sign in, Google provides us with your name, email address and profile picture. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not request or access your Gmail messages, contacts, Google Drive files or any other Google account data.
3.2 Information for better use of our services
To give you a better experience on Konekte, show you the right people and keep the service working well for everyone, we use the information you choose to add to your account and share with us while you use the app:
- Your display name, photographs, biography and interests.
- Your gender and date of birth. Other users see your age, never your date of birth.
- Your relationship status and the purposes for which you use Konekte (for example, dating, friendship, networking or community).
- Your language preference, so the application and our communications to you are presented in your language.
- Moments you publish (photographs that expire after twenty-four hours) and messages you exchange with your connections.
- Feedback, safety reports and support correspondence, including any optional screenshot, and an optional email address if you submit feedback before signing in.
3.3 Sensitive personal information
Certain information you provide may be considered "sensitive" or a "special category" of personal information under some laws, including your gender identity, information about your relationship status or romantic intentions, and the verification selfie described below. We process such information only to provide the features you request, only with your consent where the law requires it, and never to infer characteristics about you for advertising. You may decline to provide optional information at any time.
Verification selfie. If you choose to verify your profile, you submit a selfie showing a requested pose. A Konekte administrator compares it visually with your profile photographs. We do not create, extract or store facial geometry, face templates or other biometric identifiers, and we do not use automated facial recognition. Verification selfies are stored in a private, access-restricted location and are never displayed on your profile.
3.4 Approximate location (only with your permission)
If you enable location sharing and grant permission on your device, we collect your approximate location: your city, region and country, together with coordinates rounded to approximately one kilometer. We never collect or retain your precise geolocation or street address. You may disable location sharing at any time in your Profile or in your device settings, whereupon we delete the stored location.
3.5 Information collected automatically
- Activity information, such as when you open the application, connect with or pass on another user, match, publish or view Moments, view profiles and change settings. We record which users an action involved, but never the content of your private messages in these records.
- Usage duration and your last-active time (unless you choose to hide it).
- Views and taps on sponsored cards.
- Technical and device information, such as your device's operating system and version, the application version and, for feedback you choose to send, your device model.
- On our website, standard technical data processed by our hosting and security provider (such as IP address, browser type and request timestamps) to deliver pages, prevent abuse and determine your general region in order to display the website in your language.
3.6 Payment information
If you purchase an optional paid feature, payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. through a secure Stripe payment page. Konekte does not receive or store your full payment card number. We receive confirmation of the transaction, the amount, the currency and the email address used for the purchase so that we can activate the feature and maintain financial records.
3.7 Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking technologies or third-party analytics trackers. The website stores your language choice in your browser's local storage so that it can be remembered on later visits. Authorized administrators may receive strictly necessary authentication cookies when signing in to the administrative portal. You can clear stored website data at any time through your browser settings.
4. Purposes of processing
- To create, authenticate and administer your account and to provide the features of the Services.
- To display your profile to other users and to show you people nearby and people seeking similar connections.
- To enable messaging, Moments, notifications and the verification badge.
- To protect the safety, security and integrity of the Services and our users, including reviewing reports, preventing fraud, spam and abuse, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To analyze aggregated usage (such as the number of active users and average time spent) in order to maintain and improve the Services.
- To display sponsored cards and measure how many people viewed or tapped them. Sponsored cards are shown in the same way to all users and are not personalized on the basis of your profile or activity.
- To process payments for optional features and to maintain accounting records.
- To respond to your inquiries, feedback and requests to exercise your rights.
- To comply with legal obligations and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
5. Legal bases for processing
Where the European Union or United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation, the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD) or comparable laws apply, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract: to provide the Services you request under our Terms of Service.
- Consent: for approximate location, notifications, the verification selfie, optional profile information and sensitive information. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the Services safe and secure, prevent abuse, understand aggregated usage and improve our features, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
- Legal obligation: to comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders and lawful requests from authorities.
6. Disclosure of personal information
- Other users can see your public profile: name, photographs, age, gender, relationship status, the purposes for which you use Konekte, interests, biography and, unless you hide it, your last-active time. Messages are visible to the people you exchange them with.
- Konekte administrators may access account details, approximate location, activity, reports and feedback, strictly to operate, moderate and protect the Services. Administrative access is limited to authorized personnel and is protected by multiple layers of authentication.
- Service providers that process information on our behalf and under contractual obligations of confidentiality and security: Supabase (database, authentication and file storage, hosted in the United States), Google (sign-in, and Google Sheets and Google Workspace tools used for internal records and backups), Cloudflare (website hosting, security and access control) and Stripe (payment processing). They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
- Legal and safety disclosures: we may disclose information where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena or other legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Konekte, our users or the public.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization or sale of assets, information may be transferred to a successor that agrees to honor this Policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell personal information, we do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not engage in targeted advertising, as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months.
7. International data transfers
Konekte is operated from, and our primary data infrastructure is located in, the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your personal information will be transferred to, stored in and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have data protection laws different from those of your country. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms recognized under applicable law.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy. Account and profile information is retained while your account remains active. Moments are removed twenty-four hours after publication. Verification selfies are retained only as long as needed to confirm and maintain your verification status. When you delete your account or request deletion, we delete or de-identify your profile and personal information within thirty (30) days, including from our routine backup copies, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or enforce our agreements. Aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer reasonably be associated with you may be retained for analytical purposes.
9. Security
We maintain administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. These include encryption of data in transit, row-level access controls in our database, private storage for verification selfies and multi-layer authentication for administrative access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Where required by law, we will notify affected individuals and the competent authorities of a personal data breach without undue delay. Please protect your Google account with a strong password and notify us of any suspected unauthorized activity.
10. Your rights and choices
Within the Services, you may at any time update your name, photographs, gender, date of birth, relationship status and interests; hide your last-active time; enable or disable location sharing and notifications; and change your language. You may also revoke Konekte's access to your Google account through your Google Account settings.
Depending on where you reside, you may have some or all of the following rights, subject to verification of your identity and to the limitations and exceptions provided by law:
10.1 Residents of the United States
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, and the comprehensive privacy laws of other states (including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Virginia), you may have the right to: know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes and the categories of recipients; obtain a portable copy of your information; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and profiling in furtherance of decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects (we do not engage in these activities); and limit the use of sensitive personal information (we use it only for purposes permitted by law). We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision; if the appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General. We respond to verifiable requests within forty-five (45) days, extendable as permitted by law.
Notice at collection. In the preceding twelve months we have collected the following categories of personal information, as defined by California law, for the business purposes described in Section 4: identifiers (name, email address, account identifiers); personal characteristics (age, gender); commercial information (purchases of optional features); internet or other electronic network activity (in-app activity and usage); approximate geolocation; audio, electronic or visual information (photographs and verification selfies); inferences limited to the purposes you select; and sensitive personal information as described in Section 3.3. We disclose these categories only to the recipients listed in Section 6.
10.2 Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland
You have the right to access your personal data; to rectification of inaccurate data; to erasure; to restriction of processing; to data portability; to object to processing based on legitimate interests; to withdraw consent at any time; and not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement. We respond to requests within one (1) month, extendable by up to two further months where necessary.
10.3 Residents of Canada
Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and applicable provincial laws, including Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, you may request access to and correction of your personal information, withdraw your consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions, and file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information. The person responsible for the protection of personal information at Konekte may be reached at support@konekte.date.
10.4 Residents of Brazil
Under the LGPD, you may request confirmation of processing, access, correction, anonymization, blocking or deletion of unnecessary or excessive data, portability, information about the entities with which we share data, and revocation of consent, and you may file a petition with the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD).
10.5 Residents of Haiti and other jurisdictions
We extend the access, correction and deletion rights described in this Section to all users, wherever they reside, and we will honor any additional rights afforded by the laws of your country.
10.6 How to exercise your rights
To submit a request, email support@konekte.date from the email address associated with your Konekte account, or use Help & feedback in the application. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and we will not use that information for any other purpose.
11. Global Privacy Control and "Do Not Track"
Because we do not sell or share personal information or engage in targeted advertising, there is nothing for an opt-out preference signal to switch off. Where the law requires it, we treat a Global Privacy Control signal sent by your browser as a valid request to opt out. Our website does not respond differently to "Do Not Track" browser signals, as no uniform standard for them has been adopted.
12. Automated decision-making
We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing. The order in which profiles appear in Discover is determined by factors such as approximate distance and the purposes you have selected, and you remain free to view, connect with or pass on any profile.
13. Third-party websites and sponsored content
The Services may contain links to third-party websites, including within sponsored cards. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy notices before providing them with any information.
14. Google user data
Konekte's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use your Google name, email address and profile picture solely to provide and improve the features of Konekte described in this Policy, and we do not transfer them to others except as described in this Policy.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may amend this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Services or applicable law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you within the application or by other appropriate means before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acknowledgment of the amended Policy.
16. Language
This Policy may be made available in several languages. The English version is the official version; in the event of any inconsistency between the English version and a translation, the English version shall prevail to the extent permitted by applicable law.
17. Contact us
